WHO QUALIFIES FOR TRAINING WITH WARRIOR TO WILDFIRE

  • Active Duty Members: Serving members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Active Guard and Reserve: Military personnel currently serving in these roles.
  • Military Families: Immediate family members who directly support active-duty personnel may also qualify.

From which agencies do you accept candidates?

We proudly collaborate with all active duty and reserve components of the United States Armed Forces. This includes personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve units. Our goal is to provide opportunities for service members across all branches to transition into meaningful careers, such as wildland firefighting, while continuing their legacy of dedication and service to the nation.

Can I get reimbursed for training fees

We require a deposit to begin your training, rather than charging the full program fee upfront. This allows you to start the process with manageable costs while covering the administrative setup required to enroll you in the course. Additionally, the full program cost may qualify for reimbursement through government certification benefit programs, depending on your eligibility. This approach ensures accessibility while prioritizing individuals committed to completing at least the basic training necessary to advance toward a meaningful career.

HOW LONG DOES TRAINING TAKE

Basic theory can be done online within a week or two depending on how much time per day you can dedicate to the courses.

Field training will be 1 – 6 days at an actual fire or fire camp with prescribed burns.

Other courses can be added with varying times (for example a course on sawyer or radio comms) depending on how much time you can dedicate to training. Most introductory courses can be done fairly quickly.

These are then paired with real drills in the field, first in a controlled simulation and then at a real event.

I have disabilities, can i still apply

A career in wildland fire has many poistions open beyond the actual fire line. Finance, Logistics, even “Weed Washing”. We will work with anyone to try and train them and get them on a new career path in wildland fire.

How much does it cost

A deposit of $500 to start training is needed for each person. Training can be from $500 up to $6,000 including events, specialty safety gear, etc. There are programs that will reimburse up to $6,000 for vets achiving certification, so we aim to have this program be no actual cost to vets. Even the deposit and donations paid should be reimbursed to help you get started!
